Antifone “O”: un’immagine, un ricamo

 

O Sapientia, veni ad docendum nos viam prudentiae.
O Sapienza, vieni, insegnaci la via della saggezza.
O Wisdom, come and teach us the way of prudence.

O Adonai, veni ad redimendum nos in brachio extento.
O Signore, vieni a liberarci con braccio potente.
O Adonai, come and with an outstretched arm redeem us.

O Radix Iesse,veni ad liberandum nos, iam noli tardare.
O Germoglio di Iesse, vieni a liberarci, non tardare.
O Root of Jesse, come to deliver us, and tarry not.

O Clavis David et sceptrum domus Israel, veni et educ vinctum de domo carceris, sedentem in tenebris et umbra mortis.
O Chiave di Davide, scettro della casa d’Israele, vieni, libera l’uomo prigioniero che giace nelle tenebre e nell’ombra di morte.
O Key of David and Sceptre of the house of Israel, come and bring forth from his prison house the captive that sitteth in darkness and in the shadow of death.

O Oriens, veni et illumina sedentem in tenebris et umbra mortis.
O Astro che sorgi, vieni, illumina chi giace nelle tenebre e nell’ombra di morte.
O Dawn of the East, come and enlighten them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death.

O Rex gentium et desideratus earum, veni et salva hominem quem de limo formasti.
O Re delle genti, atteso da tutte le nazioni, vieni e salva l’uomo che hai formato dalla terra.
O King of the Gentiles and the Desired of them, come and deliver man, whom Thou didst form out of the dust of the earth.

O Emmanuel, veni ad salvandum nos, Domine Deus noster.
O Emmanuele, vieni a salvarci; o Signore nostro Dio.
O Emmanuel, come to save us, O Lord our God.

   L’iscrizione del trono recita: HEC E SPECIOSIOR SOLE + SVP OEM STELLARV DISPOSICOEM LVCI  PATA IVEITVR POR . CADOR E ENI LVCIS ETERNE . + SPECLM SN MACLA DI MAIESTIS. (È più brillante del sole e supera la disposizione delle stelle. È più pura di qualsiasi luce, perché è il riflesso della luce eterna, lo specchio immacolato della maestà di Dio).
2. I raggi intorno al sole con i titoli e le invocazioni delle antifone “O” sono il mio ricamo/ringraziamento per le preghiere che, in questa stagione, da due millenni raggiungono il cielo dai conventi e i monasteri del mondo.
